Performance Analysis of Receiver-Initiated MAC Protocol with Retransmission for Wireless Coexistence Networks

(in English) Intermittent receiver-driven data transmission (IRDT) has been proposed as a medium access control (MAC) protocol for systems with ultra-low power consumption such as smart-metering systems. Although those systems may be operated at unlicend frequency bands such as 920 MHz, the packet loss rate (PLR) of IRDT with interference from heterogenous systems has not been sufficiently theoretically investigated. In this paper, we theoretically analyze the PLR of IRDT protocol in large-scale wireless coexistence networks and show that packet retransmission and Reed-Solomon (RS) codes can significanly improve the PLR performance. Moreover, computer simulations verify our analytical results.
