Impact of LISN on EMI Filter Performance

(in English) The performance of the electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter is usually evaluated with the presence of the line impedance stabilization network (LISN). However, the performance of the EMI filter in reality, where there is no LISN, may be ineffective and should be the real concern. To investigate the impact of the LISN on EMI filter design and performance, the in-circuit common mode (CM) and differential mode (DM) impedances of the noise source, which is a switched-mode power supply (SMPS), AC mains, and LISN are extracted with an inductive coupling approach and analyzed statistically. Through processing the extracted CM and DM impedances, the impact of the LISN on EMI filter is revealed and explained.
