In the $(t,n)$-threshold visual cryptography scheme ($(t,n)$-VCS for short), a secret black-white image is encoded to $n$ black-white images called shares.
In the $(t,n)$-VCS while no information on a secret image is revealed from any collection of less than $t$ shares, the secret image is reproduced by superimposing arbitrary $t$ shares.
In particular, in a certain class of $(t,n)$-VCS called the progressive $(t,n)$-VCS ($(t,n)$-PVCS), quality of the reproduced image obtained by superimposing more than $t$ shares improves as the number of the superimposed shares increases.
In this paper we first formulate a linear programming problem to maximize the relative difference $alpha_n$ of the $n$ superimposed shares.
We show that for the case of $t=3$ the structure of a certain BIBD appears in the basis matrices obtained from the linear programming problem.
Next, we propose a construction of a $(3,n)$-PVCS using the adjacent matrix of a BIBD and discuss conditions under which the obtained basis matrices becomes optimal. |
