We report the design, fabrication and evaluation of clad-pumped 2-LP mode 6-core moderately coupled amplifier. In this study, we show coupled multi-core erbium doped fiber (EDF) can realize high pump power density in a cladding as compared with the non-coupled multicore EDF. We also evaluate the amplification characteristics and realize the average mode-core gain of 18 dB, the differential mode-core gain of 4 dB, and the average noise figure of 7 dB. |
