The millimeter wave (mmWave) technologies are widely recognized as one of the promising solutions for multi-Gigabit wireless access toward 5G. However, in order to get full benefit of their ultra-high data rate, it will be mandatory to combine mmWave access with mobile edge cloud, which brings computation and storage support at the edge of the network. As a preliminary work, we demonstrate a multi-Gigabit data transfer system based on IEEE 802.11ad/WiGig, which consists of a digital signage equipped with 60 GHz transceivers and a local storage. The prototype system achieves over 1.7 Gbps data rate, delivering a 2 GB video content to multiple tablets within 10 second. |
