[Memorial Lecture] The trends of standardization on emergency communications and future technical issues

(in English) Emergency communication systems of telecommunication carriers are operated as social infrastructure for saving life of people. The operative style varies according to the legal system of each country. Due to the recent innovation of mobile technologies and spread of the Internet, in addition to the conventional voice call, new emergency communication systems have been studied. Telecommunication standard development organizations are actively discussing the specification of the new systems. The presentation reports the current situation of emergency communication systems since June 2016 such as an emergency communication system via WiFi access and emergency communication system from vehicles so called eCall, and a practical example of standardization of emergency communication for IP interconnection between telecommunication carriers, which is planned to be implemented in near future. Additionally, based on NB-IOI/CIoT standards which were completed in May 2017 and will be expected to come out before the end of the 2017, it discusses some future technical issues about adapting IoT into emergency communication systems for safe and secure life.
