Management of ETC facilities and measures against snow trouble on expressway

(in English) ETC (Electronic Toll Collection system) operated on expressway is building a system using wireless communication to collect toll automatically without stopping a vehicle. NEXCO-East has a lot of heavy snow areas and operates various facilities to against the impact of snow trouble on expressway. Tohoku Expressway Kosaka JCT managed by Towada operation office had a problem due to snow to a gantry which is part of the ETC facilities. We installed a snow melting heater on the gantry to improve traffic safety and reduce burden of workers.
