An Empirical Study on Scattering Characteristics of Radio Wave by a Human Body in Millimeter Waves

(in English) The future mobile communications systems (5G), which enables data transmission rate as high as 10 Gbps has been the focus of studies recently. One approach to realize the 5G is using high frequency bands (6-100 GHz) for the reason of providing very large bandwidth. Especially, in millimeter waves, huge bandwidth up to several GHz can be utilized. However, because of suffering high path losses, millimeter waves are considered to use for small cells. One of main environments of introducing small cells using millimeter waves are high traffic areas with dense pedestrians such as open squares, airport lounges, shopping malls. To design radio links with high accuracy, not only the effects of shadowing but also the effects of scattering of radio waves by the human bodies need to be clarified. In this paper, we measure and present the effects of scattering of radio waves by a human body at 67 GHz band.
