Fundamental Considerations on Computational Complexity Reduction Using Receive Matrix Interpolation in a MIMO-OFDM System

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, separation of multiple streams is often performed by multiplying a weight matrix at the receiving side. When the number of transmit and receive antennas increases, the amount of calculations for obtaining the optimum weight matrix increases. In addition, in an OFDM system, since the weight matrix needs to be calculated for each subcarrier, this becomes a more serious problem. We can reduce the amount of calculations by an interpolation technique. We obtain the optimum weight matrices for a part of subcarriers, and for the remaining subcarriers, we calculate the weight matrices using interpolation. In this paper, we examine interpolation techniques and evaluate the performance for non-Massive MIMO environments where we do not have many transmit and receive antennas.
