Documentation and Process to Share Semantics of Features

(in English) The feature, which is employed as textit{de facto} standard in product line engineering, is a convenient abstraction to grasp and discuss the whole view of the product line and variability of its members among developers. However, inherent ambiguity of the feature often causes perception gaps on semantics of features among developers in large-scale product line development. This paper proposes a documentation that describes feature semantics in multiple viewpoints, instead of simply describing the abstract of the feature, to reduce risks of the perceptoin gap as well as keep convenience of the feature concept. The hierarchcal traceability matrix is employed to keep traceability from the feature to its relating core assets. The paper also shows a maintenance process of the hierarchical traceability matrix when a perception gap on the feature semantics is identified or a change of the feature semantics is caused due to evolution of the product line.
