The most representative and important function for increasing the data transmission rate of IEEE 802.11ac, which was standardized in Jan. 2014 (the latest specification), is “channel bonding”. The channel bonding allows us to use neighboring multiple channels simultaneously, and the bandwidth of 160 MHz at the maximum can be used in 802.11ac, thereby providing the maximum ideal data rate of 6.93 Gb/s. Although various vendors individually develop 802.11ac chip according to the specification document, Wi-Fi alliance guarantees the connectivity between them. However, since the detailed implementation is differ each other, the communication performance would depend on their combination pattern. Therefore, in this paper, we conducted the experiments in which 802.11ac AP (Access point) and STA (station) developed by different vendors communicate each other, and examined the relationship between the performance and the differences of communication procedures. Finally, we showed that the communication procedure greatly affects the performance. |
