System Wide Information Management (SWIM) concept is now considered for efficient and safe information sharing in the area of civil aviation. A purpose of SWIM is to realize seamless Air Traffic Management (ATM) system worldwide. In this paper, we consider wireless media for SWIM. We have developed and studied Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communications System (AeroMACS) for next generation airport surface communication system, so far. It is effective to share various information among air traffic controllers, pilots, and airport operators, not only on airport surface, but also on taking off and landing by AeroMACS. However, AeroMACS is based on WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) system. Therefore, it is assumed to be used under the moving speed of 120km/h. In this paper, we study a possibility to use AeroMACS while an aircraft is moving over 200km/h. |
