Transmission Performance for SDM-PON Using Clipped Sending Scheme -- Performance evaluation in the random reach mode --

(in English) To economically provide higher bit rate services to users, we proposed the Subcarrier Digital Modulation Passive Optical Network (SDM-PON). To make the sending optical power effective we proposed the clipped signal sending scheme for SDM-PON, along with three methods for restoring the original QAM signal at the receiving side. We so far showed SDM-PON with the clipped signal sending scheme can support up to 32 ONUs when each ONU constantly sends 1 Gbps using 16 QAM with the subcarrier frequency interval of 0.8 GHz and wavelength interval of 200 GHz. This evaluation was done for the uniform distance of 20km between OLT and ONUs and different distances of 2 to 21km in ascending subcarrier frequency order. This paper presents the transmission performance for different distances of 2 to 21km independent of subcarrier frequency, when SDM-PON supports 8 ONUs with the same sending optical power.
