[Invited Talk] Experimental Demonstration of accommodations of TDD-based mobile fronthaul and secondary service in a TDM-PON

(in English) Employing a TDM-PON to a mobile fronthaul (MFH) has been studied to achieve the cost-effective mobile access system. Application of the time division duplex (TDD) to mobile base stations has been considered promising in the 5th generation mobile communication system which is a mobile access system in the future radio network. When aggregating TDD mobile base stations by the TDM-PON, the number of the accommodated mobile base stations is limited. Therefore, we propose aggregation of the MFH and secondary services in a TDM-PON. Our proposed TDM-PON can expand the number of the accommodating ONUs. We use the traffic monitor to capture the MFH signal and then estimate the unallocated interval in the PON domain. The signals of the secondary services are overlapped in the unallocated interval of the MFH signal. In this paper, we report on the experimental and numerical calculation results that throughput of the accommodated secondary services can be improved without adding additional latency to the MFH when applying the proposed method.
