This paper presents the comprehensive effects of time and space diversity including precoding vector switching (PVS) transmit diversity and receive diversity on the physical cell ID (PCID) detection probability for narrowband (NB)-Internet-of-Things (IoT). Computer simulation results show that the PCID detection probability using PVS transmit diversity or receive diversity is improved by approximately 14 or 22%, respectively, compared to that for one-antenna transmission without receive diversity with the forgetting factor of $alpha$ = 0.125 for time diversity at the average received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) of - 3 dB. We also show that when using both PVS transmit and receive diversity, the PCID detection probability of approximately 92% is achieved even in for a low average received SNR such as - 5 dB. Hence, we conclude that PVS transmit diversity alone or together with receive diversity is effective in shortening the averaging time for computing the correlations of synchronization signals for time diversity. Decreasing the averaging time for time diversity leads to a reduction in the PCID detection time for IoT equipment. |
