Variability characteristics of sound reflection on sea surface with wave -- A result of water tank experiment --

(in English) Various hydro acoustic devices are used in the field of ocean development of resources and observations with AUV and ASV. For example underwater acoustic communication, these devices transmit and receive sound under the sea, so it is important to evaluate characteristics of sound reflection on sea surface.
Usually, everyone introduces a completely reflection model on sea surface without waves, but amplitude and phase of reflected wave fluctuates from moment to moment on sea surface with waves. So, we conducted an acoustic experiment in water tank using plungers which make random waves as sea surface. Then, we obtain fundamental data of sound reflection at experiments and evaluate characteristics of reflected sound using acoustic simulation with the FDTD method. As a result, variability characteristics of amplitude are same tendency between water tank test and acoustic simulation. With the increase of wave height, we confirmed a PDF of amplitude of reflected sound which change from a Gaussian distribution to a Rayleigh distribution, namely Rice distribution.
