[Invited Talk] The CSIC report -- Injury caused by wooden gym floor board --

(in English) The Consumer Safety Research Committee has carried out an accident investigation in response to severe accidents in the past 10 years that part of the gym floor peeled off, and the player suffered serious injury. In the investigation, a field survey of the gymnasium where there was an accident and a questionnaire survey targeting facility managers were conducted. Since the state of the floorboard just before the accident was not confirmed, it was difficult to identify the specific cause of the accident. However, on the floor where the injury accident occurred, it was thought that there was a high possibility that flaw of floorboard such as damage and crack had existed. Therefore, the committee considered that deterrence of defects, early detection and treatment are important for preventing the accident. As measures to prevent reoccurrence of the accident, the committee recommended notification of the risk of accidents and importance of maintenance as well as strengthening of appropriate maintenance and management.
