AlphaGo has brought a surprise and shocks to the Go world and society. While from the viewpoint of AI informatics, I think there is an important significance that Go has become science. Plays of Human professional Go players and AlphaGo have been analyzed and discussed by professional Go players and AI researchers from their point of views respectively. Discussions by professional Go players seem to be rather human-like way of AlphaGo’s playing, such that AlphaGo would plays almost a human. While AI scientists’ discussion are concentrated on technical approach that has achieved such a high performance in Go playing of AlphGo. This paper focuses on the significance of Go that becomes Science through AlphaGo. Over the long history of Go, the knowledge of Go play is discovered by human beings through thousands of years of playing Go games and systematization efforts. One of disadvantage of this approach is as well known a missing of key knowledge witch results in incompleteness of the knowledge. New AI and ICT technologies used in developing AlphaGo demonstrated the power of Scientific approach in Go by winning in So game between AlphaGo and top professional Go players. In the paper I would like to discuss some future social issues derived by over-expectations of AI based on Deep Learning oriented Machine Learning technologies those are beginning to apply to the society from the point of views of a mid-level Go yudan player and AI scientist. |
