Direct RF under sampling reception has been developed to reduce the size and the power consumption of the terrestrial wireless terminals(-3GHz). This reception method is applicable for satellite communication receivers because the requirements of spurious response and near-far resistance be relaxed from that of terrestrial wireless receivers. Therefore, we have developed a series/shunt sampling switch type sample and hold (S/H) IC for Ka-band(19.4-20.2 GHz) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) under sampling receiver. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a 28 GHz-band S/H IC for VSAT receivers. The S/H IC is required to receive and operate in RF frequency (27.5-28.5 GHz) on VSAT system and Fifth-Generation Mobile Communication System(5G). The proposed S/H circuit is designed and fabricated in 65 nm CMOS process. The fabricated IC achieves higher than 39.9 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at 28 GHz-band, and demodulates received signal within 3.51% error vector magnitude (EVM) on 64QAM, 48 Mbps. |
