Preliminary study on extraction of intervertebral disks from VF images by use of SVR

(in English) It is necessary to analyze the movement of cervical structures for the clarification of mechanism of dysphagia. We propose an extraction method of intervertebral disks from VF images using SVR. First, cervical areas are extracted from VF images for learning, and then the likelihood images of intervertebral disks are obtained by SVR. Next, FP relearning of SVR is performed. In the testing phase, the candidates of intervertebral disks are extracted from VF images, and then FP candidates are eliminated on the basis of geometrical characteristics of intervertebral disks. An experimental result is shown, and is compared with that of our SVM-based method.
