Influence of User Scheduling on the Performance of MU-MIMO THP from the Viewpoint of System Capacity and Fairness

(in English) Multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) employing Tomlinson Harashima precoding (THP) achieves large system capacity in comparison with MU-MIMO employing linear precoding (LP) thanks to the ability to suppress the noise enhancement at the receiver. Moreover, since a certain user scheduling technique is applied to MU-MIMO THP in an actual scenario, the performance evaluation considering the effect of user scheduling becomes important. In this report, we investigate the influence of user scheduling on the performance of MU-MIMO THP from the viewpoint of system capacity and fairness among users. Concretely speaking, semiorthogonal user selection (SUS) and proportional fairness (PF) are taken up as the scheduling techniques to achieve throughput maximization and fairness, respectively, and the performance evaluation considering these techniques is carried out by means of computer simulations.
