An effective device for measuring microwave absorption of minute specimen

(in English) To selectively take off cancer cells a possible microwave therapy is studied with an adsorbent that is medicinally gathered to the cells and enhances the microwave absorption. For serving to discover drugs, we develop a coaxial cavity to detect the microwave absorption even if a loadable specimen is minute as less than 10 mg. The microwave absorption is enhanced by electric fields concentrated on a specimen chamber placed on the tip of centre conductor in a coaxial cavity. When a specimen of 5.8mg tetraphenylporphyrin was loaded in the chamber, a shift of the resonance frequency was successfully induced and detected with a relative error of 25.0%.
