Design of a Perpendicular-Corporate Feed in a Four-Layered Parallel-Plate Circularly-Polarized Slot Array Antenna

(in English) This paper presents the design of a perpendicular-corporate feed in a four-layered parallel-plate circularly-polarized slot array antenna. We place dielectric with proper permittivity in the region between the coupling-aperture and the radiating-slot layer to remove the x-shaped cavity walls completely in the radiating part of the conventional planar corporate-feed waveguide slot array antenna. The dielectric excites a standing wave in the region strongly and then provides each 2×2-element subarray with a uniform excitation. Each slot layer has no electrical contact owning to an air layer between slot layers. We have realized 11.8 % bandwidth for VSWR ≤ 1.5 and 15.7 % bandwidth for AR ≤ 3.0.
