In this paper, in locator ID separation networks, we propose a control mechanism for the maximum transmission rate of each mobile host for promoting the autonomous mobility. This mechanism changes the transmission rate of each mobile host dynamically according to the utilization time of corresponding communication session and the changing of corresponding locator. Especially, the maximum transmission rate decreases as the utilization time of corresponding communication session increase, and the maximum transmission rate increases when the corresponding locator changes. Because the communication session is not terminated in locator ID separation networks, each user is expected to be moved to another mobile network in order to improve the maximum transmission rate. By using the proposed mechanism, the network utilization can be improved while promoting users to regularly change the access points. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism, we construct an experimental system where the HIMALIS architecture is utilized and investigate the impact of the proposed mechanism on network throughput. In this experimental system, we control the maximum transmission rate by changing the TCP send buffer size. From experimental results, we found that the network throughput can be changed by using our control mechanism and the autonomous user mobility can be expected by using our mechanism. |
