Robust one dimensional phase unwrapping using Markov random fields

(in English) In the measurement of crustal deformation using satellite or aircraft sensors, interferometric synthetic aperture radar is widely used.
In the measurements, variations are obtained as constant multiples of the phase differences.
However, the phase differences are convoluted between $-pi$ and $pi$.
Therefore, in order to calculate the variations, it is necessary to restore the continuous phase obtained by removing the uncertainty of integer multiples of $2pi$ from the wrapped phase.
This is the problem called phase unwrapping.
Measurement data generally includes observation noises.
For data near the boundary between $-pi$ and $pi$, it is difficult to distinguish between observation noise and discontinuities owing to wrapping, and unwrapping accuracies goes down.
In this study, we propose a method of phase unwrapping based on Bayesian inference by modeling the smoothness, observation noise and wrapping using Markov random field models.
We apply the proposed method to synthetic data, and indicate that it can estimate the original phase robustly compared to the conventional method even under noisy observations.
