We study phase synchronization between a pair of mutually coupled identical Hele-Shaw cells exhibiting oscillatory convection. Using the phase reduction method for oscillatory convection, we show that a pair of Hele-Shaw cells can exhibit in-phase synchronization through mutual interaction. We derive the phase coupling function determining the relaxation time for the synchronization and develop a method for obtaining the optimal interaction to achieve fast synchronization. We validate the theoretical results by direct numerical simulations. |
