Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) To realize an intelligential society, wireless smart utility networks (Wi-SUN) connecting many sensors or meters will be introduced in various fields. To operate many terminals in a network, a hierarchical mesh networking protocol in Layer 2 routing (L2R) was standardized in IEEE 802.15.10. In order to operate the wireless communication device for a long time with battery, it is useful to reduce the number of sending times of each terminal. We have proposed a load balancing routing algorithm which can solve the problem that the number of sending times increases due to the packet concentration to a certain node. This routing method was evaluated by the computer simulations and the experimental evaluation with the Wi-SUN modules implemented an L2R protocol based on IEEE 802.15.10. These evaluations showed the proposed routing method can reduce the number of sending times without deteriorating the end-to-end successful ratio. Here, the above experiment was conducted under the particular condition that terminals were densely placed and can connect to the specific terminals. In this report, multiple developed terminals were set up and a mesh network was constructed in the research building of the Kyoto University, and a field experiment in this environment close to actual network operation was conducted to evaluate the L2R protocol from the viewpoint of the number of transmissions and the success rate of E2E.
