Thermal/Electric Circuit Model and Evaluation of Thermal Electric Power Generation using Soil Temperature Difference

(in English) In battery-driven sensor systems, labor cost for battery replacements is a serious matter for reducing operational cost, therefore battery-less sensors are preferred.
In outdoor situation, the temperature change in the underground is relatively small compared to the ground surface, because the temperature in the underground is not easily influenced by solar radiation and atmosphere.
This leads to big temperature difference between the ground surface and the underground.
We aim at developing battery-less soil moisture sensor which converts temperature difference to electric power using thermoelectric modules.
In this paper, in order to evaluate the amount of electric power that can actually be generated by temperature difference between the ground surface and the underground in the fields,
we modeled the sensor system and surroundings using a thermal/electric ciucuit model, and applied the measured ground temperature data to this model.
As a result, it was proved that the sensor system can be sufficiently driven by temperature difference in many fields.
