[Invited Talk] A Network Slicing for 5G Networks
Choong Seon Hong (Kyung Hee University) IA2017-43
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) 5G cellular network is expected to play a vital role in enriching the information communication technology (ICT) industry by offering a variety of novel services. Moreover, due to the proliferation of smart devices and advent of Internet of things (IoTs), there has been a great diversity both in the service requirements and device capabilities. Therefore, to enhance the service provisioning and meet the diverse service requirements, novel techniques and cutting edge technologies need to be
considered for the 5G cellular networks. Recently, network slicing is identified as one of the key enabling technologies to meet
the diverse service requirements for 5G cellular networks. In network slicing, multiple logical networks can be enabled over a
single physical network, thus, enabling flexibility for the network operators to offer optimal support for different types of
services to its users. Due to the revolutionary advances brought by software-defined networking, network functions
virtualization and orchestration tools in the network architecture, the network slicing technology can be easily enabled.
Moreover, network slicing need to be supported by novel artificial intelligence techniques to seamlessly operate and fulfill the
service requirements. This article presents an architectural vision for network slicing and the role of artificial intelligence
techniques for 5G networks. Finally, we present an artificial intelligence enabled slice manger architecture for multi-services.
