UV-Cube:Erythemal Ultraviolet Radiation Sensing System From Multiple Directions

(in English) Evaluation of health effects caused by ultraviolet:UV rays and prevention of damage are very important for labor. In countries close to the equator, which have more exposure to UV rays, an increasing in outdoor workers' skin cancer patients is a social problem. The prevalence rate of skin cancer continues to rise even in Japan. Due to strong UV ray by enlarging the ozone hole and use of a material with high reflectance on the outer wall, the risk of exposure to excessive UV rays is increasing more and more. To evaluate health effects of UV rays, various UV sensing devices have been proposed. However, these previous measurements are performed only on the sky surface, without considering reflection from buildings and features. For evaluating the influence on the human body, it is necessary to measure the amount of erythema UV ray. However, there are few research that measure the amount of erythema UV ray. Therefore, for appropriate sensing at working environment such as urban space surrounded by buildings, we have developed a sensing system to measure the amount of erythema UV rays from multiple directions including reflection from features and walls. In this paper, we compare the measurement of only the sky plane with the measurements of 6 directions, and show the usefulness of erythema UV ray amount sensing from multiple azimuths.
