[Encouragement Talk] Implementation and Evaluation of QoS Control Method of Mirror Traffics for OpenStack Tap-as-a-Service

(in English) It is proposed to enable capturing packets on a virtual network, named Tap-as-a-Service, TaaS in OpenStack. TaaS provides users a function to setup mirroring of the production traffic between VMs and to transfer mirror traffic to monitoring VM, by expanding OpenStack Neutron APIs. It is useful to capture and analyze the network packets for understanding the behavior of the system. However, there is an issue that the production traffic and the mirrored traffic are affected each other, because physical underlay network is shared by them in the reference TaaS implementation. It may cause the interference of resources. In this paper, we propose a QoS control method of mirrored traffics. We can reduce performance impacts for the production traffics caused by the mirrored traffics. We also describe about the experimental results.
