[Invited Talk] Agricultural Activities in Hitachi Group -- Solution Products and Research Themes --

(in English) Japanese agricultural sector is facing several risks such as "the aging farming population", "the shortage of successors”, “the increasing abandoned farmland” and “low profitability ". Japanese government and farmers has been deploying various efforts to eliminate these risks. Hitachi, Ltd. and its group companies are also trying to develop products to improve farming productivity and agricultural-commercial-industrial collaborative solutions to increase profits. In this paper, the author introduce some solution products and research themes. ICT solution products such as “GeoMation Farm”, which can manage farmland-related information using graphic information system (GIS) technology, are used by JAs and agricultural corporations to improve the farming efficiency, and some solutions considering the total value-chain of agricultural products are promoted with local governments. In research area, the author introduce some cases related to remote sensing technology and a trial to create a new solution.
