On the Generation Mechanism and Reduction Methods of Voltage Surge in a Current-Resonant Half-Wave Push-Pull Converter

(in English) Soft switching technology is making it possible to make DC-DC converters smaller, lighter, and more efficient. Resonant converters are representative one. Among them, resonant push-pull converters have a merit that the design of the switches drive circuit is easy because the sources of MOSFETs are connected to the same ground. In this study, we take up a current-resonant half-wave push-pull converter which is a kind of resonant push-pull converter. When this converter is actually operated, high voltage surge is generated in the primary side switches. In this paper, we describe the quantitative elucidation of the generation mechanism of voltage surge in the switches of a current-resonant half-wave push-pull converter and surge voltage reduction method.
