A Study on EXIT Chart Based Design of Low-Density Parity-Check Codes for Iterative Soft Beat Interference Canceller in Pilot-Assisted Optical-OFDM

(in English) This paper proposes a low density parity check (LDPC) code design based on extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart analysis for iterative soft beat interference canceller in pilot-assisted optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Pilot-assisted optical-OFDM transmission is a linear demodulation schemes based on single photodiode. Although the complex baseband signal can be detected from direct detected amplitude, it could be impaired with the signal-signal beat interference. We have studied an iterative soft beat interference canceller with the assistance of forward error correction (FEC) to mitigate the interference, and revealed that a suitable FEC code is necessary for the iterative detection. In this paper, we focus on a design of LDPC codes which is well studied in terms of EXIT chart analysis, and design an LDPC code for the interference canceller.
The validity of the optimized LDPC code is demonstrated by computer simulations.
