Psychological Research on User interfaces for People with Severe Motor Disabilities

(in English) Recently, Eye tracking technology has been improved and increasing its supply as an interface of future generation, and it has been focused in the field of welfare service for the disabilities. We hypothesized that “Eye tracking method” will be an useful interface to use computers for people who lost their arms or legs, or even their trunk functions by diseases or accidents. However, it has not been studied about the difficulty in use (emotional strain, tiredness and so on) that Acquire Disabilities would face using new interface compared to his prior use of keyboard and mouse has not been thoroughly examined. In this study, 10 students in 20s who have severe motor disabilities and difficulty of speaking were studied, and I examined emotional strains and tirednesses that one would face using eye tracking method compared to his prior experience with keyboard and mouse for computer use.
