A Study on Location Privacy for Multicast-Based Services

(in English) Since Internet of Things (IoT) data generally correlates with its location where it is sensed, location-based forwarding, which collects IoT data by specifying the location of the data, is promising. We have proposed a location-based forwarding scheme based on NDN (Named Data Networking), where a user sends several requests so that the privacy information, i.e., its target location, is not revealed because of the fact that the location name is in the request without encrypting in NDN. It utilizes multicasting to reduce the number of packets. However, the scheme has a problem that target locations might be inferred if the size of multicast-area is small. This paper formally defines location anonymity according to k-anonymity to protect users' privacy and location diversity according to l-diversity to measure quality of a multicast areas. Finally, we discuss the design rationale behind constructing multicast areas with protecting users' target locations, and a heuristic algorithm to realize the multicast area construction.
