An Assessment of Surface Temperature Elevation of a Phantom for Exposure at 60 GHz

(in English) Research and development in wireless communication technologies operating at millimeter-wave frequencies, such as WiGig and 5G system, are recent topic. The expansion of these new technologies will increase the public exposure to millimeter waves; thus, an assessment of the safety of exposure to electromagnetic waves is a high priority. This study aims to develop measurement system of local temperature elevation by millimeter wave exposure at 60 GHz using a glycerin phantom. Firstly,we clarified the measurement conditions for assessment of the temperature elevation over the surface of the phantom by using an infrared camera. Assessment of temperature elevations by the exposure using a standard horn antenna and a planar array antenna were conducted at 60 GHz.
