Development of reflection type scanning laser terahertz near-field spectroscopy and imaging system for bio-applications

(in English) Recent terahertz (THz) wave technology has been attracted a great interest in the fields of bio and medical. In these fields, it is necessary to develop high-resolution, high-sensitive and high-speed measurement systems to detect small quantity of biological samples. However, such measurements are generally difficult in the use of a typical far-field THz technique. Recently, a transmission type scanning laser THz near-field spectroscopy and imaging system has been developed for observing unique interactions between locally generated THz waves and various sub-THz wavelength scale samples including biological samples. In the present study, we developed a reflection type of the system for more practical bio-applications and evaluated its basic performance.
