We freshly constructed an experimental system for study of triboelectric generation by using optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurement. The constructed system is able to measure SHG spectrum of polymer film such as polyimide during tiboelectric generation. The SHG spectrum of pyromellitic dianhydride-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether (PMDA-ODA) polyimide film showed that SHG signal is available to discuss microscopic origins of triboelectric effect by selecting a wavelength of probing laser beam. The displacement of charges is probed by using infrared laser beam with a wavelength in the region from 1300 – 800 nm while orientational ordering of permanent dipoles can be evaluated by selecting the laser wavelength in the region 500 – 600 nm. We conclude that SHG spectroscopy is a useful way to probe microscopic origins of triboelectric generation. |
