Requirement of Train Control Communication Using Un-licensed Wireless Band

(in English) Installation of the train control system called communications-based train control (CBTC) is progressing on overseas railways. Train control requires a means of communication between trains and ground equipment. CBTC uses radio communication, in particular, 2.4 GHz wireless LAN, which can be used in many countries without any license. However, this frequency band is very crowded, and interference can become a problem. The conditions for using unlicensed wireless bands for train control communication, therefore, are investigated. This paper considers cases where interference is avoidable and impossible.
