Frame interpolation is one of methods to realize wireless transmission of high frame-rate and high resolution video under limited transmission rate. A frame interpolation method is a technology that improves the frame rate by inserting interpolated frames with compensating for global and local motion. A frame interpolation method has been proposed which uses video stream that has two types of information; high-resolution video and high-frame-rate video. This method, however, sometimes creates low-quality interpolation frames when the colors of foreground and background are similar and when the movement of foreground is relatively small as compared with that of background. This paper improves this existing method with foreground elimination in high-resolution frame and a contour extraction. These additional procedure make it possible to divide the foreground and background with higher accuracy and improve the quality of the interpolation frame. |
