This paper discusses an off-line software modem for multi-carrier acoustic communications. Acoustic communications, e.g., underwater acoustic communications (UWAC) and land acoustic communications, suffer from severe time and frequency selective channels, i.e., doubly selective channels. For doubly selective channels, the authors have evaluated multiple single carrier (MSC) modulation scheme and differential space-time coding (DSTC) employing channel prediction, i.e., MSC-DSTC. This paper discusses an off-line software modem for MSC-DSTC employing electronic acoustic devises and off-line digital signal processing. Finally, this paper shows that this off-line software modem can evaluate performance of acoustic communications in actual field environment. |
