Multipath TCP to Shorten Millimeter-Wave Link Disconnection Time
Hiroaki Sato, Masaki Bandai (Sophia Univ.) NS2017-167
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Millimeter wave (mm-wave) technology has been expected as a solution to wireless bandwidth shortage. When MPTCP works with mm-wave communications, the sender distinguishes that the cause of a retransmission timeout by a wireless-link disconnection is a network congestion and doubles the timeout value of its retransmission timeout value exponentially to mitigate network congestions. In addition, mm-wave subflow disconnection causes RTO in non-disconnected subflow. Moreover, non-disconnected subflow becomes unable to communicate. In this paper, we propose a MPTCP for mm-wave communications to shorten the time to be unable to communicate due to mm-wave disconnection. By means of some computer simulations, we show that the proposed TCP is effective to reduce the time to be unable to communicate due to mm-wave disconnection in all TCP flows of MPTCP.
