Performance Evaluation of End-to-End Spatial TE on MultiPath TCP for both Energy Saving and Load Balancing

(in English) In recent years, the number of network devices are rapidly increasing in the Internet for dealing with a huge amount of traffic, so that there would be multiple transmission paths for some source-destination pairs. In general, a source node transmits its traffic through one path with minimum hop to the destination. When the utilization of the path becomes high, the traffic can be distributed over multiple paths to relieve/avoid congestion while traffic from some sources are aggregated on some relatively low path/link for reducing power consumption.
In TCP, it would be difficult to achieve the spatial traffic engineering(TE) for both load balancing and energy saving. On the other hand, Multi-Path TCP(MPTCP) can establish and manage multiple connections on some paths simultaneously. Thus in this paper, we propose the end-to-end spatial TE on MPTCP, and investigate the impact of the threshold in terms of path utilization on both transmission and energy saving performance.
