Implementation and Validation of Dynamic Reconstruction Mechanism of Distributed SDN Control Plane

(in English) Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology enables us to configure switches in a network flexibly. Previously, distributed SDN control methods have been concerned to improve their scalability and robustness. Distributed placement of controllers reduces computation load of each controller, and backup (cooperation) functions among controllers enhance robustness. Recently, we have considered emergency reconfiguration of control plane (C-plane) over distributed SDN environments. In this paper, we implement our method onto SDN environment consisting of Ryu and Lagopus. As a result of experimental demonstration, we validate that our method smoothly reconstructs the C-plane of each separated part when network disconnection occurs, and also, our method reunites C-plane into one when divided networks are merged.
