Traffic Measurement Method for Network Softwarerization

(in English) In the development of the future network using he network slicing technology, which exploits the softwarized network creation technique in the network virtualization platform, is being developed. Using such network slicing, the network with defferent service requirements as well as the network service buisiness with the different service models can be accomodated as muti-tenant in the single network platform. On the other hand, as the network created in the virtualizaed network platform, the method of the operation, administration, and management will be changed as opposed to the network consisting of the physical network equipment. In the network softwarization, the network components created by the virtual machines in the general pupose processors are interconnected through the virtual interaces. This lacks the tangibility of the network entities. For the service requiring the high throughput and low latency, the localization of the bottleneck will be difficult in such virtualized network environment when the end-to-end network performance is degraded.
At present, OAM technology desirable for NFV based network is beeing developed as in-band network telemetry (INT) which enables the hop-by-hop traffic monitoring together with real-time monitoring capability. INT is the framework .designed to allow the collection and reporting of network state and implented by P4 languege. In this paper, we investigate the in-band OAM capability using INT and P4 with the fundamental experiment on the embedding the timestamp in the packet header for the measurement of the network latency. With this experiment, we will investigate the appropriate OAM for NFV.
