Field Evaluation of Parent Node Discovery Time Reduction Algorithm for Low-Power Wireless Multihop Networks

(in English) In low-power wireless multi-hop sensor networks, increases the parent discovery time is an important issue because in the conventional scheme, the joining node chooses the best parent node from among all its neighboring nodes. In the proposed scheme, if a neighboring node satisfies the parent selection condition for the joining node, it informs the joining node before the other nodes. The proposed scheme also introduces a parameter that changes the timing with which they reply in an autonomous distributed manner. We measured the processing time on various parameter values using an actual field and we revealed parameter values that reduce the time compared with the conventional scheme. We also measured the network joining time of these schemes on the field. The result shows the proposed scheme can reduce the time excepting some networks such that node distributions are extremely imbalance.
