In a smart spectrum access, the statistical information in terms of spectrum usage can enhance a spectrum sharing dramatically. One of the elemental technologies in the smart spectrum access is a modeling of the statistical information. Specifically, it is required that the random aspect of spectrum usage is captured by the statistical modeling. Conventionally, single typical distribution has been used for the modeling. However, investigations based on spectrum measurements indicate a difficulty of the modeling. For this problem, a mixture distribution using multiple distributions is a valid approach. However, it is required to develop clustering in which the number of multiple distributions (number of clusters) and clustering of observed samples are executed properly.
In this paper, duty cycle is considered as random process, and we investigate three modelings (single beta distribution modeling, finite beta mixture modeling, and infinite beta mixture modeling).In the infinite beta mixture model, Bayesian nonparametric approach is employed for the clustering.
We compare the above three modelings by spectrum usage measurement results in two frequency bands (WLAN: Wireless Local Area Network and LTE: Long Term Evolution). |
