Development of Activity Log Analysis Plugin "AliroStats" for Grasping Moodle Usage Situation

(in English) Moodle is the typical open source LMS which has been introduced abundantly at universities and colleges in Japan. Moodle's standard plug-in named 'Statistics' can specify the time period and display the activity status for each day, but it cannot display detailed activity status for each time period or day of the week. Although there has been an additional plug-in named "Daily usage" that has allowed analysis for each time period traditionally, it does not support Moodle 2.4 or later. In this study, we develop a plug-in which can deal with Moodle 3.x series (from 3.1 to 3.4 +) and analyze the use situation by time period, date and day of the week. The developed plug-in has functions which can display each use situation graph by only Moodle’s standard library, and also output the analysis results in CSV format. In order to confirm the usefulness of this developed plug-in, we introduced it to our Moodle server used by students of our department at NIT Asahikawa College, and we analyzed the students’ e-Learning activity throughout the plug-in display and its output.
