Countermeasure Technology for Flaming on Social Media Networks Based on the Damped Oscillation Model

(in English) Explosive dynamics in online social networks including flaming phenomena has a potential to give a serious effect not only on the stable operation of information networks but also on social activities in the real world. Recently, the oscillation model on networks has proposed as a way to describe the dynamics in online social networks. Based on this model, we can understand the generation mechanism of flaming phenomena in online social networks as the result of effects caused by the directed link structure of online social networks. In addition, it is possible to take countermeasures on the flaming phenomena by manipulating the structure of the links, at least in principle. However, since it is almost impossible to know the structure of online social networks, we might not be able to find the links which should be manipulated.
In this paper, we propose a method to prevent the flaming phenomena by manipulating the damping coefficient based on the damped oscillation model on networks. This method can be expected to lead to realization of countermeasure technology for the flaming phenomena applicable even in situations where the structure of online social networks is unknown.
